Enterprise Architect - Defence and Aerospace (Sep 20, 2010)

Our client is one of the Leading IT Outsourcing clients in the world and have a focus on the defence and aerospace markets. They are working on a high level onshore/offshore proposal to the UK Defence and Aerospace market and require an Enterprise Architect to work across complex programmes

Essential
UK Defence and Aerospace programmes experience – last 12 months
Knowledge of architecture solutions involving SAP
Strong TOGAF experience
Excellent working knowledge of different EA components (eg DB, Middleware, app, UI, B2B components) and recent advancements in these
Ability to interact with senior management (Directors, CXO’s) and explain the architectures relevant to their businesses, benefits and create business cases
Good knowledge of translating the business requirements into IT architecture requirements
Ability to work with cross functional teams in defining architectural solutions to customers

My client is a specialist services company offering independent consultancy and practical support to market leaders across the Defence and Security industries. They support there clients to win, mobilise and deliver complex programmes. Based in the South West and also work directly with there Clients at sites across the UK.

Description of job:
We have vacancies for an experienced MODAF Modeller to support the capture and delivery of complex defence programmes, covering both logistics and operations. You will be required to work in a fast moving environment and to take on technical responsibility.

Capabilities:
• Systems Engineering skills
• Understanding of logistics processes and information flows
• Knowledge of MODAF
• Ability to adapt modelling approach to suit tight timescales and bid/capture situations
• Ability to model the role of information systems within a broader defence picture
• Excellent communication skills with all stakeholders
• Commercial awareness

Experience:
Significant experience of modelling in a MODAF environment is required, together with an understanding of defence logistics processes and associated information systems and flows. A Senior Engineering Manager is required for the industry leader in development and manufacture of unmanned ground vehicle systems for police, military, and industrial applications in more than 52 countries worldwide.

The Role: Senior Engineering Manager
As the Senior Engineering Manager you will lead the development and implementation of the Company Technology Roadmap as well as:

+ Build the engineering skills base to provide the resource required to meet the company’s short and long term product design objectives
+ Define and implement departmental objectives and performance measures
+ Define, document and implement design engineering procedures compliant with ISO9001
+ Allocate Design Engineering resources to Programme Managers as required for programme engineering. Manage priorities and raise unresolved conflicts with the Managing Director.
+ Recruit and select new staff as required by approved departmental budgets
+ Take an active role in the development and promotion of company processes and procedures that improve inter-departmental performance and efficiency.

Experience:
As Senior Engineering Manager you will have experience of:

+ Degree qualified or equivalent in relevant technical discipline
+ Broad unmanned systems engineering knowledge of hardware and software applicable to unmanned vehicle design
+ Strong analytical ability
+ You will also need to have in depth experience in active design engineering background in hardware/software with progression through supervisory/management positions and can demonstrate experience in system integration within the defence market.

MI5 is now recruiting for an Enterprise Modeller with significant experience of modelling. You will be an Enterprise Modeller, Business Analyst or Data Architect with demonstrable examples of building end-to-end models – both current state and future state utilising modelling techniques and languages including UML, Entity Relationship and Information Engineering. As an Enterprise Modeller, you will be responsible for Enterprise Modelling (application, data and infrastructure) within the Architecture team and expected to create and maintain standards for modelling across the enterprise. Conversant in modelling processes and tools, you will have experience of architecture frameworks (e.g. MODAF, TOGAF, Zachman) and tools (System Architect, Rational Software Modeller). With XML in your primary skillset, you will have a broad understanding of IT architecture and its principles. Supported by a good understanding of IT and the software development lifecycle, you will have exposure to RDBMS and common programming languages. Enthusiastic and willing to learn, you will be a logical thinker, with the ability to take real life situations and convert them into abstract models.
